Therapy for Moms
Support for Virginia women in every stage of motherhood: pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.
Does your life as a mom seem harder than you imagined it could be?
Maybe you’re reeling from the changes and sleep-deprivation that come with having a newborn. Or perhaps your birth experience did not go the way that you had planned. You may be struggling to connect with your baby or feeling like you have lost your sense of self. Perhaps you’re just exhausted and tired of being the default parent.
Whatever it is you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:
Struggling to manage the stress that comes with trying to balance the different areas of your life
Wondering if this is “the baby blues” or if it is postpartum depression or anxiety
The “mom guilt” you feel when you think you’re just not measuring up
Comparing yourself to friends, family, and moms on social media who just seem to have it together
You don’t have to live life with mom guilt and anxiety.
I can help get you where you want to be.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What are therapy sessions like?
A: At first sessions tend to revolve around me getting to know you, your history, and what brought you to this stage of your life. A session is a a space that is just for you, free of judgment or unsolicited advice. If you are engaging in teletherapy, you meet from the comfort of your home for about an hour. We might do relaxation exercises or EMDR. I meet my clients where they are and provide what they need at each session.
Q: How long do I need to be in therapy?
A: This is different for everyone. Sometimes clients know that they want to work on something for a predetermined amount of time. Most of the time, we feel it out and do what works best for you.
Q: How do I know if therapy will work for me?
A: I am a firm believer that everyone can benefit from therapy. Just like we take care of our physical health, it’s important to care for our emotional health. Even people who have a million people to talk to will still benefit from talking to a professional who will hold space for them and help them get through the tough times. I have advanced training in maternal and perinatal mood disorders (like postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety) that can really help moms alleviate their mental health symptoms and start to feel like themselves again.
Q: How do we get started?
A: Contact me to set up a free 10-minute phone consultation. We will talk about your goals, how I can help, and make a plan to start meeting.
